Background

Louisville CMM Calibration and Repair arranges coordinate measuring machine calibration, programming and gage calibration for automotive suppliers across Kentucky and the surrounding region. Work is placed with laboratories accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017, matched to the machine, the standard the certificate needs, and the scope required to cover it. Requests come from quality managers preparing for a registrar or customer audit, most often under IATF 16949 clause 7.1.5.3 or the parallel ISO 9001 clause 7.1.5.2, and from maintenance engineers scheduling around a production shutdown.

Background

The region's supplier base runs heavy on Tier 1 stamping, forging and driveline work, with structural stampings, weldments and suspension components measured against tight true-position and profile tolerances. A CMM that drifts out of specification puts every part measured on it in question, which is why as-found data is treated as evidence, not paperwork to skip.

Scheduling follows plant production calendars, not a fixed route. On-site visits cover bridge, gantry and cantilever machines in place; portable arms, gage crib items and smaller artifacts can ship to a partner laboratory where a plant prefers to keep floor space clear. Both routes end in a certificate that states the reference standards, the reported uncertainty, and the conditions recorded at test.

What the Work Follows

These are the operating commitments the work is measured against.

  • 01

    As-found first

Results are recorded before any adjustment, preserving the data an impact assessment needs.

  • 02

    Scope-checked

Each request is checked against the performing laboratory's accredited scope before it is quoted.

  • 03

    Standard-matched

Verification is arranged against ISO 10360-2 or ASME B89.4.1 depending on what the machine was built to.

  • 04

    Audit-ready records

Certificates and recall data are kept retrievable for a registrar or customer audit.

Where to Go From Here

The standards, traceability arrangements and management system behind the work are set out on the quality system page. The competence requirements for the people doing the work are described on the our team page.
